My fabulous New York friend Rachel recommended two great breakfast spots for our latest trip to the Big Apple.
Kitchenette (Upper West Side & Tribeca locations): Southern country style breakfast, complete with biscuits and cheese grits. Super-cute decor (tables are pieces of crazy painted doors covered with glass and windows and shutters decorate the walls). I had the goat cheese and herb omelette which was surprisingly light, clean and refreshing for the pallet. As with any breakfast place in NY, get there early to beat the brunch rush.
Georgio's Country Grill (9th Ave at 53rd St): Menu is typical diner food infused with healthy fare and some twists on the old norm. Can't forget to mention the selection of smoothies and the fresh squeezed orange juice - delish. I ordered the eggs benedict and was pleasantly surprised. Portions are great and the prices are reasonable. The menu is huge, so be ready for some reading before you decide!
Fabulous Feasting,
The Diva.

I must agree that Kitchenette is a delight. But if you want a real good deal in NYC check out the brunch at Food Bar in Chelsea. Good food and drink at a low price and, as the location suggests, lots of eye candy (although, they're all divas too). Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteanother NYC institution that is open in the "Wee Wee Hours" ( As Chuck Berry would sing) is Jeremy's Ale House. Located in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge , a stone throw from the Fulton Fish Market.....the grll does not heat up until noonish, but the taps are flowing at 7:00 AM......32 oz styrofoam buckets are the specialty...a longtime haven for Cops, Firemen, Sanit workers and other Nightshift crawlers.....if you stay afloat until lunchtime, you can get a nice order of fried clams and crinkle fries....the food is standard, but the ambience is overwhelming....if their walls could talk , we'd have to cover our ears.
ReplyDeleteAnother great breakfast stop is McSorleys Ale House on 7th street off 3rd.
ReplyDeleteThe cheese and onions are very fresh - the ales excellent, and you run in to plenty of NYU faculty before the 10AM class.
Sunday doesn't open until noon.
